Intersecting tag clouds for discovering (un) common research issues
Yesterday I got introduced to citeUlike.org by the members of this blog. This is an open environment to share and tag your used literature references. As I am facing the problem to relate research of me and others (by looking at the common literature and their keywords), I am thinking of intersecting different tag clouds created by different researchers. This would be interesting to show the (un)common issues of different research individuals and groups.
Just think of combining two tag clouds of you and your research partner and thereby discovering the common aspects. Also interesting would be to track the clouds over time and watch, how the clouds are related over time to each other. I think this is also a good idea for the members of our blog to investigate how we are related… in terms of research interests.
I am really looking forward to such solutions, which visualize intersections of different tag clouds. I found nothing related on the web until now. But I found a application to track clouds over time (cloudalicio.us). Perhaps this is a good starting point of investigation.

What cloudalicio.us does sounds cool. However, I could not test it because it’s temporarily down. The del.icio.us guys seem to have changed some stuff in their service during yersterday’s update, which brought coludalicio.us down. But I hope they will soon be back.
